First Levitation
My first attempt of levitation was at a fitness photoshoot in St Petersburg. The location was a rather large building that was built in the 1980’s and probably served as a warehouse. It lacked air-conditioning, so humidity and a musky smell loomed everywhere. The main equipment area had a “serious” vibe to it, same feeling when you walk into a martial arts dojo. You didn’t fuck around here. There was a layer of duct on everything except the racks of dumbbells, benches, heavy bags, and mats. Beyond the main weightlifting area was a large room that looked barely used. An a long abandoned set of street hockey nets, a large platform ladder, lonely metal folding chairs, cables hanging from it’s 25ft ceilings, it looked like a great place to shoot. After an hour of your typical fitness shots, which for the model can be exhausting. I was sweating twice as much as her though. We found a huge fan, plugged it in, and sat on the floor in front of it. Looking around it occurred to me this might be a good opportunity to try some levitation photography.
